Acronis Instant Restore

QUICK AND EASY. Acronis Instant Restore lets you boot a copy of your system on an existing Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere ESXi host directly from the backup storage without moving data. Since you are not moving data, the recovery time is down to a 10-15 seconds.

The Acronis Backup agent, which is installed on your virtual host, creates a virtual storage device on your host that looks like a datastore. Whenever the hypervisor reads from this virtual device, the agent will retrieve the data from the backup storage and present it to the hypervisor. As a result, there is no need to move the entire backup to the hypervisor storage – the reading of the backup happens on-demand. And if the hypervisor wants to write data, it is written to a temporary storage location on the host.

Arcserve Virtual Standby

P2V AND V2V RECOVERY. Virtual Standby is a feature of the Arcserve UDP solution. What makes it possible to quickly recover from backup images is the Virtual Proxy. This architectural element provides periodic, image-based system, application and data protection for Windows Servers and VMs, and the ability to failover to a live VM of that backup image.

Users can replicate to remote locations (remote office, DR site, MSP and Cloud) and run recovery point conversion into VHD or VMDK formats, on the LAN or through a WAN depending on the chosen topology.

This is an outstanding feature of Arcserve UDP since it’s capable of a physical to virtual (P2V) conversion. Your RTO becomes greatly improved.

ATEGO VDR

VIRTUAL DISASTER RECOVERY. VDR is a feature of the ATEGO Enterprise service and the Asigra Enterprise software. Customers who are already backing up their VMware virtual machines using ATEGO Enterprise can use this same platform to enable quick recovery of the virtual machines either onsite or offsite.

ATEGO VDR uses VMware’s VADP API and Change Block Tracking (CBT) technology to provide incremental restores of the machine at the remote site, ensuring that as the changed blocks are backed up to the ATEGO Enterprise remote repository, those changes are also applied to a virtual copy of your virtual machines so that they are kept current and ready to be turned on in cases of a disaster.

For new and existing customers of ATEGO Enterprise, this is an excellent way of extending the service for faster RTO and more complete protection of your VMware environment using a single platform that is easy to manage.
