Malaysia conducts probe into AirAsia ransomware attack, data of 5 million people affected

 

The personal data of passengers and Airasia employees became the target of a recent ransomware attack. Investigations are underway to identify the source as well as the impact caused by the incident

Information stolen also included names, encrypted passwords, and phone numbers – and were put up on sale online. Since the data breach incident in 2020, it once again proved that RedMart’s systems have vulnerabilities that can be exploited and their data security practices have flaws.
